Welcome to Moseley Felting!
As a felt-maker and Joomchi artist, I make 2D and 3D art out of wool fiber and paper.
When making felted wool I transform soft wool fibers into strong wool fabric using water, soap and manipulation. The process is called wet-felting.
Creating Joomchi is similar to making wet-felted wool, in fact Joomchi is often called “paper-felting”. Instead of using wool fiber I manipulate layers of mulberry paper to create a thicker, and stronger paper material. This new material, called Joomchi, is highly texturized and has qualities similar to cloth and leather.
I often add surface design elements to my art, such as knotting, stitching and beading, to keep it interesting, unique and fun.
Something wonderful and unexpected happens almost every time I make something new!
